Our Journey
Meruto began 14 years ago with a simple dream — to share the joy of Japanese light cream cheesecakes in Singapore. My passion for baking started in Japan in the early 1990s, when a kind Japanese baker taught me during my time working abroad. That spark grew into what Meruto is today.

The name Meruto comes from the Japanese word for “melt” — a reminder of how our cakes melt in the mouth and warm the heart.

Our Growth
We first introduced only our signature Japanese light cream cheesecakes, beloved for their soft, fluffy texture. Soon after, we added our Swiss rolls — another favourite that many still love today.

A New Chapter — Meruto Cafe
Today, Meruto Cafe carries this story forward. While we stay true to our Japanese-inspired desserts — cheesecakes, rolls, pies, puffs, and baked buns — we are pairing them with something closer to home: our very own Singapore local coffee and tea.

Not gourmet, not pretentious — just the kopi and teh we all grew up with. The kind that never goes wrong, whether it’s to kickstart the morning, refresh during tea break, or enjoy after a meal. Hot or cold, our local brews blend naturally with Japanese desserts, creating a unique pairing that feels both familiar and refreshing.
